In 2007 the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and the Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB) made a information document Exporting Building Products to Japanand uploaded it onto the ABCB website at the end of the year.It is one of the activities of the collaborative effort between the two organizations in recent years.The aim of the document is to provide Australian industry with information about market access issues in Japan, and it is also informative and useful to other overseas manufacturers and to exporters who are considering market approaches for Japan.

BCJ has had a close relationship with ABCB since we agreed with them to an MOU in 1998.ABCB is a joint initiative of all levels of Government in Australia, and includes representatives from the building industry.ABCB maintains and updates the Building Code Australia (BCA) and carries out related activities, including the establishment of the CodeMark product certification scheme in which product conformity to specified requirements of BCA is certified.ABCB is also a member of the World Federation of Technical Assessment Organization (WFTAO), as is BCJ.
